The South Plattsburgh Fire Department is one of five departments protecting the Town of Plattsburgh. Our district is approximately 15 square miles in size with a nighttime population of approximately 1,300 people.
We provide Fire, EMS First Response and Rescue services to the residents of our district as well as a large daytime population attending Clinton Community College or working at any of the numerous commercial or industrial businesses within the district. We also respond to the Plattsburgh International Airport (PBG), a 2 mile stretch of Interstate 87 (the Northway) and a 2 mile stretch of the Canadian Pacific Railroad mainline.
We operate out of two stations with around 40 members. Our annual call volume is roughly 370 calls of which approximately 1/2 is typically EMS or motor vehicle accidents.
